The increasing Global inclination towards nature based health care, especially the growing reliance on medicinal herbs, has caused the trade in medicinal herbs to increase manifold. The growing demand on the natural resources has put wild populations of many of our invaluable medicinal plants under stress. To promote the conservation of medicinal plants a comprehensive Medicinal Plants Policy was adopted during the year 2006 and dialogue amongst various stakeholders initiated towards conservation and management of medicinal plant resources of the state and following projects are being implementation in the state.
The project has been formulated for the territorial jurisdiction of Kullu district, the project period was for five year i.e. 2008-09 to 2012-13, bur the project period has been extended up to 2015. Total outlay of project is 200.40 lacs and physical target is 628.50 hact and the project is to multiply superior stock of selected medicinal plants for in situ and ex situ conservation and propagation.
The project has been formulated for the territorial jurisdiction of Kangra nad Hamirpur districts, the project period was for five year i.e. 2008-09 to 2012-13, bur the project period has been extended up to 2015. Total outlay of project is 200.40 lacs and physical target is 628.50 hact and the project is to multiply superior stock of selected medicinal plants for in situ and ex situ conservation and propagation.
The project area is in Chamba & Sirmour districts. This area falls under the Territorial jurisdiction of Chamba, Nahan Forest circles and Wild Life Circles (N) and (S). Project period was for five year i.e. 1.10.2009 to 30.9.2014, but the project period has been extended up to 2015. Total outlay of project is 520.00 and physical target is 1340 hact. and the project is to multiply superior stock of selected medicinal plants for in situ and ex situ conservation and propagation.
This Conservation of priority medicinal plants species project is implemented in Himachal Pradesh under territorial jurisdiction of all the nine Territorial and three Wild life Circles of HP Forest Department. Project period was for five year i.e. 1.1.2010 to 31.12.2014, but the project period has been extended up to 2015.The objectives of the project are:
